By Laws

The IPT- Sub-Saharan Africa chapter (IPT-SSA Chapter) is committed to uphold all the bylaws existing between the International Society of Interpersonal Psychotherapy (ISIPT) and any other formally affiliated regional IPT society.

  1. We will comply with annual fee subscription to maintain our affiliation to ISIPT which is payable on January.
  2. The members will be expected to uphold IPT protocol at all times.
  3. Continuous improvement of IPT skills is to be achieved by all members through participation in IPT activities, peer supervision on IPT processes, organizing IPT conferences /seminars where IPT experiences and knowledge is shared and publications.
  4. All members joining the group should acknowledge the leadership structure in IPT at all times where the president and the liaison representative are the official spokespersons of the chapter. Entry of new members into the group will be vetted by the office holders. Those interested to join the chapter will submit their academic and professional documents to the secretary who will then organize for a meeting of the officials to evaluate and consider approval.
  5. Exiting the chapter will require the respective member to write to the president of the chapter elaborating reasons for the same. The President will the asses the contents of the letter and consider the need to inform the other officials to approve the exit of the respective member.
  6. While exiting the chapter, the member should have his /her annual membership subscription updated to the date of desire to exit.
  7. Any arising complaints will be documented in writing and passed to the president for evaluation and when need be an adhoc committee will be constituted by the president among the members to look on the merits and demerits of the complaint. The adhoc committee will formulate possible resolution mechanisms and oversee the implementation.
  8. All members of the IPT-SSA are expected to uphold these by-laws at all times and the office holders will strive to nature its continued adherence.

Election of IPT-SSA office holders
All members have equal opportunities in IPT-SSA activities:

  1. The IPT –SSA chapter will conduct an open election for office holders every three years.
  2. All the office holders are eligible for a maximum of two terms.
  3. The office holders will constitute of IPT-SSA chapter president, vice president, treasurer, liaison person (principal contact person), secretary and council of members who will execute the activities of the group through committees.
  4. Treasurer will brief members quarterly on the financial state of the IPT-SSA chapter.
