{"id":42,"date":"2024-01-11T10:19:59","date_gmt":"2024-01-11T10:19:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/interpersonalpsychotherapyssa.org\/ipt\/?page_id=42"},"modified":"2024-06-02T18:54:15","modified_gmt":"2024-06-02T18:54:15","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/interpersonalpsychotherapyssa.org\/ipt\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/p>\n<h5><b>About IPT-SSA<\/b><\/h5>\n\n<p>Welcome to the IPT- Sub-Saharan Africa Chapter \u2013Located in Kenya<\/p>\n\n<h5><b>Mission Statement<\/b><\/h5>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">To improve lives of fellow Africans and\n        provide support to mental health specialists, health workers, researchers and\n        community members in the continent through applying, testing and promoting IPT.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<h5><b>Overview of IPT-SSA<\/b><\/h5>\n\n<p>We are an informal emerging group with an interest in forming IPT-SSA\n    chapter which is a non-profit making organization with a view to expand\n    delivery of mental health interventions. Therefore the chapter will be named\n    IPT-Sub-Saharan Africa Chapter (IPT-SSA Chapter) to accommodate all members\n    interested in IPT within the region.<\/p>\n\n<p>IPT-SSA chapter will focus on research,\n    advocacy, training and dissemination of IPT as an evidenced psychological\n    intervention which can be scaled up to cover for shortage of trained mental\n    health specialists. Activities will include trainings in WHO, (2016) recommended\n    IPT manual, sharing research experiences and capacity building efforts. We also\n    target to disseminate new knowledge on adaptation of IPT to different cultural\n    settings across SSA.
